Other Ways To Use Lanyards

Lanyards are mainly used for identification purposes at conference or trade shows, but there are heaps of other ways that they can be used and below I’ve listed a few. Don’t forget that if you get printed lanyards with your company logo, this will also enhance the effect and give you some free advertising along the way. Obviously with some of these uses you would need additional lanyard attachments to the standard ones, but the small extra cost can really be outweighed by the benefits of the free advertising you’ll get every time they use your lanyards.

1: Use them with retractable card holders at the end so they become part of a security card swipe system for entering your office

2: Add a mobile phone attachment to the end of the lanyards so they can use it for making calls

3: You can also use the mobile phone attachment to hook a USB stick at the end. Great if you need to move around the office to different computers, you can have all the important files handy in your USB stick hanging from your lanyard

4: Cool for conferences, some lanyards have a pouch sewn in that you can put a pen into. Perfect for those people that are always losing their pens, get one of these added to your lanyards and the problem is solved

Custom Lanyards In The Workplace

There’s many uses for custom lanyards, but none so important as in the workplace. They can really establish a company’s reputation based on the quality of lanyard their employees wear. There are certainly plenty of choices nowadays, especially with the advent of the eco friendly lanyards and the specialised printing techniques that now allow for some very special effects on custom lanyards. We’re all used to doing printed lanyards but now you have applique or glitter options as well as custom moulded plastic characters that can be added. Some of it may be a little extreme for something used in the workplace, but you’re certainly not restricted in what you can achieve if you’d like to be a bit more imaginative.

Silicone Wristbands For Promotions

Silicone Wristbands have really become popular in New Zealand as a means for promotions for both businesses and charities. There’s such a variety of finishes, that you can get really creative with them. You can do printed silicone wristbands, you can also deboss or emboss them with the design coming out of the wristband instead of being depressed into it. The best finish is a debossed silicone wristband. If you get printed ones, the print will come off with time. This is due to silicone being such a difficult material for print to adhere to.

If you get them debossed, your design will last the life of the wristband and at the end of the day you want your promotional message to last as long as possible. If you want to get some contrast you can always opt to get them colour filled. This way they look like they have been printed, but with the debossing it means the ink won’t rub off.

You’ve also got the options to order adult or kids sizes, so it doens’t matter who your promotional campaign is targeted at, as you can have a size that fits everyone.

Hospitals and Nurses Lanyards

One place where custom lanyards are a must is for nurses in hospitals. I’m sure you’ve all seen them wearing them around their neck as they go about their daily duties. Some have a retractable card holder on the end of them. This is handy as they go through different security sections such as entering an intensive care unit.

The retractables allow them to pull their security card away from the custom lanyards so they can swipe their card and then it automatically retracts back into its holder.

Some hospitals also look for antibacterial lanyards to help stop germs passing through the hospitals. It’s difficult to achieve, especially if they insist on printed ones as then you can’t wash them without washing off the print. Sometimes it’s best not to do custom lanyards but just get them unbranded and use it to hold the ID card only.

It might not be quite as secure as printed lanyards make it very easy to identify legitimate staff, but I guess as most nurses are already in uniform even unprinted lanyards make an effective means of identification.

What is a Bootlace Lanyard

We’ve all heard the expression, but what exactly are bootlace lanyards. On an expense scale they are cheap lanyards to purchase. Similar to your shoelace, they are usually tubular and are a woven lanyard that you print onto. Most common widths are 10mm, 12m and 15mm. It’s unusual to find them wider than this as they become hard to print with the tube section moving around. Only restriction on these cheap lanyards is the types of lanyard attachments you can add. Clip connectors are too wide and they are not robust enough for water bottle holders or other heavy attachments. Due to their cost and being cheap to purchase they are popular for bulk purchase for larger scale events where budgets are important.

These lanyards are constructed from up to 12 different spools of thread and are commonly done with polyester material. Y ou can find some more unusual materials on the market such as bamboo or cotton, but the most commonly used material is polyester because they end up being the cheapest lanyards to produce due to the cost of the raw material. So, if you’re looking for cheap lanyards, the bootlace style is definitely one to consider
